It’s live

April 17th @ 7 pm.  Loco Lu’s in Raleigh (near the airport).  Nick Empey, Jamie Purnell, Wes Collins, and Skip Robey on stage simultaneously.  2 hours of pure acoustic power.

oh yes it’s ladies night

The boys hosted another ladies night (it was really daytime, though, but the boys don’t care.  If there’s a lady involved, it’s a ladies night).

spring occurrences

We’ll begin with flowers blooming:

And moving right along, a few lady friends of mine came over to make some spring cupcakes.   These are from the book Hello Cupcake! which I recommend.   They are supposed to look like little rabbits jumping into their holes, you can decide if we were successful or not.   I had purchased whipped frosting unknowingly so the grass didn’t turn out so well, but it was fun nonetheless and it’s easier to mess things up if you can eat them anyway.

Brookston helped himself to a bunny bum.  Nice job kid.

Another spring occurrence involved Nick sitting in a tree,

while the boys had a picnic:

The boys got a package from a grandmotherly Easter bunny.

Thanks, Grandma!

Playing around in the grass was a regular spring occurrence until I developed some nasty style allergies that resulted in violent and unrelenting sneezing fits.  Some highlights (not of me sneezing – of the boys in the grass)

Sometimes I stay up late

And when I do, it’s usually beyond the hour that any rational human being who has to wake up at 7 am should be awake.  But in those moments of solitude and (self- or laundry-induced) insomnia I realize…umm….ah, snap.  I lost my train of thought.  At any rate, I found out last week that I’ll be playing a show—a real gig!—in Raleigh April 17th.  It’s at a coffee shop called Loco Lu’s, and I’ll be part of a 4-man set, which means I’ll get about 30 minutes to play all my sing-alongs, clap-alongs, dance-alongs, and pick-your-nose-alongs.  AND, here it comes.  Wait for it, wait for it.  Shameless self-promotion www.nickempey.da.ru.  And a weather report:

@ 2.39 am in Chapel Hill, NC

55°F

Current: Partly Cloudy
Wind: N at 0 mph
Humidity: 67%

Which is a lead-in to my next post which will consider how a 0 mph wind can have a direction.

Have you ever wondered…

…where squash comes from?  You probably haven’t because you’re fairly confident that you know.  In fact, some of you may claimed to have seen it growing.  But Nicole is here to set the record straight.  Our boys will know the true source.

“Squash comes from Minnesota…where they grow squash…in hamburgers.  See, you plant the hamburger in the ground.  Then squash floats down from heaven to lament the hamburger that died.  Then you snatch the squash out of the air with nets.”

And there you have it.  Empey, Inc.  Revolutionizing the agricultural industry since who knows when!
