If I were an animagus...

If I were an animagus...

I think I'd be a squirrel. I'd be fast, look awesome while I was hopping about, have a luxurious tail, be able to grab things with my little front paws, look funny when I was holding anything, and scurry places. Also, squirrels are found all over the world, so I wouldn't look too out of place where ever I went.

Look, I can even get into cookie jars.

Sometimes though, I think I'd be a racoon. Mostly because they're cool looking to me.

What would you be?

A Confession

I have to admit that I just don't like hands in my armpits.  Is it so much to ask that people keep their hands out of my armpits?

and randomly: a ring that I love.

So this is completely random, but today while I was looking for images of birds I found this ring, that turned out to be from etsy, and fell in love. Unfortunately, this item was sold last year, and is no longer available, but I wanted to blog about it nonetheless.

Wonderful.

And while I'm being random, I'll show you the images I have saved in my "artsy stuff that I love" folder:

This was an installation piece somewhere, and I can't find the info about it anymore, sorry about that...I'm showing you anyway.

And this:

I wish I could tell you all about this one too, but I can't. Up until this point I haven't been doing a good job documenting where I find these things that inspire me. This post has motivated me to do better in the future, and next time I show you artsy stuff I like, I'll have the info too.

Look closely at the last two. There's a lot to notice, and I think that's why I like them so much.

Four and a half pounds of baby.

Here's an overdue shot of my belly progression:

This is me at 26 weeks, that is, almost 7 months.

At my appointment two weeks ago my doctor said I was measuring 5 weeks ahead of a singleton pregnancy. So, at 24 weeks I was measuring at 29 weeks (let me just take care of that math for you). At our ultrasound on Monday Baby B weighed 2.4 lbs and Baby A weighed 2 lbs. I'm finally feeling huge-ish, and that makes me nervous for the next two months.

Nick: In unrelated news, I finally fixed my music website so that you can actually get to it beyond the entry page.  Download some music, it's fun.

I'm a good slave driver. I'll admit it.

I mentioned earlier that my moms were coming to town and they did. It was an exciting time for me and I put those ladies to work. Here's my mom painting the boy's room and my mama empey sewing one of the many projects I gave them.

I couldn't find any pre-made crib stuff that I truly loved, and since I've made a rule for myself to only buy things that I truly love from here on out (as opposed to anything sort of okay on sale) I decided to make my own crib bedding and such.

After despairing around in the baby section of target, I wandered elsewhere in the store and found a twin bedding set that I loved and some king size sheet sets that were 50% off to match. After doing some math (sitting in the shoe department on my phone calculator) I figured I was getting my fabric at about $1.70 a yard for 300 thread count cotton!

When I say "make my own crib bedding" I should say "have my moms make my crib bedding." They were lifesavers, and I wouldn't have gotten all the things that I wanted to get done, done without them. They helped me paint, make a sofa cover, fitted crib sheets, baby blankets, upholstered storage boxes, curtains, and more. Nick even helped out, he assembled furniture -- two cribs and two book shelves.

Here's my design/inspiration board for the boys room:

I'm still finishing the room up, slowly. I'll post pictures when it's all complete. Thanks so much moms for letting me slave drive you around! And thanks so much to Nick for always letting me try to slave drive him around.

infant rain? little tyke sprinkle? child downpour? no wait...baby shower.

Once again I'd like to thank Metta for documenting my life for me. She and my friend Rebecca were totally sweet and hosted a smash bang baby shower for me. Unfortunately once I got home I realized I hadn't taken any pictures. I'm excellent at bringing a camera and then not using the said camera. Thanks to Metta you can check out the evenings events here!

week 20 picture

I'm a little behind on these pregnancy development progression documentation things. As I'm writing this I'm at week 22, but here's a picture at week 20. It's not the best picture in the world, but I'm no photographer. Check out my friend Kelly or Rebecca for that, I'm so jealous of these photos. I should have been a photographer... (p.s. I owe this maternity shirt to Rebecca, thanks I wear it all the time, as you've probably seen.)

Anyway, there I am. You may also notice the haircut I got earlier that day. I took this photo using Nick's joby, which I highly recommend. It's an excellent gift, especially for men who never ask for gifts, you know the type.

My moms will be here in 4 days! I can't wait!
